About

I specialise in Scottish and Postcolonial studies and I am interested in the historical and the theoretical intersections between these fields, with special reference to the post-Union period.

Other research interests lie in the fields of Modernism and of critical theory, with a special focus upon nationalism and literature, identity theories and border theories.

I am also a devoted Burgessian, and an Honorary Patron of the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.

In 2008 I was Royal Society of Edinburgh Research Fellow at the Department of English Studies at the University of Stirling.

In 2010-11 I was Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Critical Studies/ Scottish Literature Department of the University of Glasgow.
